Abby Thames is dedicated to educating and mentoring the next generation of physician assistants. With a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success, she teaches courses in clinical medicine, skills, and diagnostics along with patient assessment, integrating real-world clinical insights into the classroom experience. In her teaching, she emphasizes patient-centered care, critical thinking, and decision-making, encouraging students to approach each encounter with curiosity, professionalism, and compassion.
In addition to her academic role, Thames maintains an active clinical practice in the community, where she provides comprehensive patient care and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Her continued work in clinical medicine ensures that her teaching remains current, practical, and grounded in the evolving realities of healthcare delivery.
She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of South Alabama and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is certified by the DEA and maintains current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications. She is also an active member of the American Academy of PAs (AAPA)
